Technical data
The well-proven two-cylinder, two-stroke rotary-valve engine with a displacement of 594 cm³ produces 26 DIN hp (30 SAE hp) at 4200 rpm. Maximum torque at 3000 rpm is 5.5 kpm. The fuel mixture ratio is 1:50 with fresh oil blend lubrication. The engine is cooled by a cooling fan.
Power is transmitted to the fully synchronised four-speed gearbox with a disc spring clutch and a freewheel in 4th gear.
A stick shift on the handlebars ensures easy handling.

While retaining its excellent basic concept, the Trabant 601 is constantly evolving and, in addition to many partial innovations, has been further developed in 12 crucial points. High safety and maximum utility are its main features.
